A far more realistic and cyber-punkish Zaku design.
Very good; it's different, but I like it.

This, along with the other mecha here, deserves to be finished.

I liek this redesign, it's pretty damn awesome, although it reminds me of a vertical standing version of the critter from Patlabor the movie WXIII

Aces, I see you keep adding little bits and from what I see it does appear you have a similar method of constructing your mechs in sections. Are the limbs all seperate layers or flattened to one? I ask cause I just put every piece/limb of my FOIL full CG stuff on their own layer for ease of control. I know I mentioned it before but I don't think I ever asked if you're doing much the same as it seems like you might be or something like it. Regardless of how you do it, clearly it's working for you :D This one's shaping up to be a pretty wild re-imagining of an old classic, very cool man :)

I have the lines of parts on seperate layers, but the colours are on a single layer (to keep the layer count down a bit :) )
I don’t always do this, most of the stuff for my comic are done in a single piece. but it makes resizing and fitting parts easier to have them separated on some designs. stuff like scaling down the right leg on this one, which I need to do, gets a lot easier.
glad you dig it. it’s gonna be fun thinking up the design for the Gundam :)

Indeed the method sounds similar to mine but the main difference is I have to keep all the parts and corresponding colors on their own layer when I do the pseudo 3D render look as I remove most of the defining contour lines, every part is sclupted on it's own layer at that point so the FOIL WIP I sent is all exploded like that, all in pieces. It makes the files bigger but I have a lot of horsepower on my machine to handle it :) Yeah the Zaku rocks, a Gundam from you would be just as crazy I'm sure. I once did a re-design of a Valkryie for a con book, if I can track it down I might post it in scraps. It wasn't as well thought out as this but I did kinda do my own crazy thing with it.

I bet I could do that as well :) I guess Iím still not used to having a more powerful computer.
I think itís been running nonstop for a month now :D (try doing that in windows ;) )

oh please do if you find it, Iíd love to see what you did with it :)

Yeah mine's pretty souped up, though it's ecliped plenty by current machines. I have a 2.2 gig Athalon with a gig of RAM and all the other nutty bell's and whistles. It's on almost all the time as well. If I can find that Valkryie I'll post it, have to find it first :)

Looks cool, though zaku...
To me, the zaku's zaku 'cause of it's 'gut',skirt, and little round head. Reminds me of the aquatic MS's the most. Maybe it just needs some shoulder spikes :D

Then again, I've seen wierder redesigns (have you seen 'For the Barrel' designs? done by the Steel Battalion dude)

Can't wait for the GM and Dom.

I skipped out on the skirt thing, cause I wanted it to look fairly original.

yeah, I’ve seen those. I really like ’em :D

Gosh. That's a good take on the Zaku design. I don't think i've ever watched any of thr Gundam shows, but I've seen enough zakus around to know that this one would kick their collective metal asses.

Good job. :D

I guess I should. (But I should also be working on English homework. :D)

Also: I can't do feet. My current robot i'm working on (BRS) has little weird feet. Any ideas so I can improve? I don't want to look like i'm copying people, like your brilliant feet designs.

Yeah one more piece pending from the other artist. I also did a CD cover for local hip-hop artists, just colors, that's done, and there's a gig with an RPG, pen and paper company (not Palladium), I can't reveal quite yet, and on top of all that there is something really big brewing here in Detroit and I also have a pending animation gig, background layouts O_O Even with all that crazy I still manage to get other stuff done so I will be back at it soon. Actually was thinking about banging out some rough FOILs or taedai today possibly :)

Oh and I keep forgetting to mention XD Somebody’s been watching them some GITS Stand Alone Complex :D I dig the Laughing Man logo on your avatar and I.D. XD Hell of a cool show.

I've seen the entire show as well and it just rocked, spectacularly good writing overall :) Right now I'm al over Eureka Seven, another amazing show from what I'm seeing, so far up to ep 29. That big thing I can't get into details quite yet as I had to sign a non disclosure agreement, so there's an NDA due to a lot of sensitive proprietary and legalese type o stuff ;) I'll prob send you a note or e-mail soon filling you in on what I can at the moment. It looks like it’s solid but of course things can change as they often do but very promising from what we were shown. I can say it involves animation and multimedia.

Nice work. Although it is a "re-take" of the zaku II you've still managed to make something really unique, even for your work. I especially like the way you've kept the moving lens/head thingy that the original had. I'm wondering if your going to include the shoulder shield on the right arm?

yup, I’ll include the shield, and I’ll try to work in some spikes on the left arm somewhere too.
I also moved the cockpit to the crotch section, since Tomino seems to be a fan of those things :)
oh, and there will be a heat hawk, oh yes indeed :D
